Thomas Balch Library has a new venue for sharing Leesburg’s history, the Donaldson Log Cabin, located at 14 Loudoun St. SW next to the Town Hall Parking Garage.  

Staff and volunteers are using the space for processing archival collections and hosting pop-up exhibits during Leesburg’s popular First Friday events. Exhibits and events will be scheduled at the cabin throughout the year.

 

First Friday at the Donaldson Cabin: Cats of Leesburg

In August 2023, the Donaldson Log Cabin hosted a pop-up exhibit about the history of Dogs in Leesburg. By popular demand, this August we will feature the history of Leesburg’s feline residents. Documents and photographs from Thomas Balch Library’s archival collections will reveal the history of pet keeping in Leesburg. Visitors will discover how cats have shaped life and laws in Leesburg and try their hand at activities that will help them explore these interesting records
