Owned and operated by the Town of Leesburg, the Leesburg Executive Airport (JYO) is the second busiest General Aviation (GA) airport in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Located 35 miles from Washington DC, Leesburg Executive Airport is a designated reliever airport for Washington-Dulles International Airport. 

Leesburg Executive Airport has a 5,500 foot grooved asphalt runway with a 70,000-pound dual-wheel capacity. A new Instrument Landing System was commissioned in March 2011, supplementing the existing GPS and WAAS approaches. Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs) and an upgrade of the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) was completed in 2012.

In 2016, the Virginia Department of Aviation completed its latest economic impact study identifying the statewide economic benefits associated with the 66 airports (9 commercial service and 57 general aviation) in the Commonwealth.  In the study, Leesburg Executive Airport is ranked third among the 57 general aviation airports in the Commonwealth in terms of economic contributions to Virginia.  The study estimates that the Leesburg airport contributes $121 million in economic activity (directly and/or indirectly), and is responsible for 586 jobs with an annual payroll estimated at $56 million.
