The Leesburg Police Baseball Summer Camp is a one-week day camp for students who have completed 5th grade but have not yet entered 9th grade. 2023 will be the inaugural summer for this new camp!
Participants will be divided into small groups (infield, outfield, pitching, catching), and will receive instruction in the fundamental skills of baseball. LPD officers & staff and Loudoun County High School baseball team volunteers will work together to teach each participant those fundamental skills.
In those small groups, participants will work on the mechanics of hitting, fundamentals of fielding (infield and outfield), pitching, catching, baserunning and other strategies to teach each participant and help them learn the game. We will also discuss each position on the field and what their responsibilities are. The last day will be a culmination of the topics learned and a full game will be played. Each participant will also have the opportunity to earn awards such as “Most Improved“ and “Teammate of the week”. At the end of the camp, each participant will receive a baseball signed by the current Chief of Police.
We also plan on having a guest speaker come to speak to the kids about the game.
Youth accepted into the program are responsible for bringing a water bottle and bag lunch each day of camp.
Participants will receive a Leesburg Police Baseball Summer Camp shirt and will be required to wear this shirt while attending camp, no exceptions!
