 DSC_6055Major Vanessa Grigsby is the Deputy Chief of Police for the Leesburg Police Department. Major Grigsby joined the department in 1996 and has held a variety of assignments including Patrol, Community Services, and Criminal Investigations as well as Interim Chief of Police.  Major Grigsby's accomplishments include establishing the department’s first junior police academy in 2000, formulating the agency’s false alarm program, and playing an active role in creating the agency’s domestic violence protocols.

Major Grigsby holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from Kaplan University and graduated from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in 1996. Major Grigsby has attended the Institute for Leadership in Changing Times (ILCT), the Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS), and the FBI National Academy (Session 253). Major Grigsby’s professional memberships include the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP),  the Professional Executive Research Forum (PERF) and the Professional Executive Leadership (PELS).
