The Leesburg Police Department Youth Police Academy is a one-week day camp for students who have completed 6th grade but have not yet entered 9th grade. The camp is offered every summer.
The Youth Police Academy, held at the Douglass Community Center, is for students who have completed 6th grade but have not yet entered 9th grade and covers a variety of law enforcement topics including evidence collection, accident investigation, and police procedures.
There is no fee for the Youth Police Academy. All youth interested in participating in the camp must submit a completed online application before the assigned deadline. All applications are reviewed and those accepted to the program are notified. Applying DOES NOT guarantee acceptance into the Youth Police Academy. Due to the popularity of the Youth Police Academy, youth who have attended the Youth Police Academy or Junior Police Camp in previous years are not eligible to attend.
Youth accepted into the program are responsible for bringing a bag lunch each day of camp.
Participants will receive a Youth Police Academy shirt and will be required to wear this shirt while attending camp. Campers will also be provided with beverages to help them stay hydrated during more strenuous activities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Officer M. Andrade at 703-771-4500 or mandrade@leesburgva.gov.
