Suspect a Sewer Backup?

The Department of Utilities is available 24/7 to maintain and repair the utility systems that deliver tap water and take wastewater way from Town of Leesburg homes, businesses and facilities.

If you are experiencing problems with your sanitary sewer such as a backup, call us first before contacting a plumber. If the blockage is in the Town’s infrastructure, staff will clear at no charge to you.

If you encounter a sewer back up, contact us at 703-771-2750, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m. weekdays and on weekends and holidays, call the Leesburg Police non-emergency number at 703-771-4500.

Residents are responsible for maintenance of their lateral sewer line from the house to the sewer main, even though a portion may be on public property.

Suspect a Water Leak?

Residents are also responsible for maintenance of their water service line from the water meter to the house.

A representative from the Town’s Utility Department will respond to determine if a problem exists in the Town’s water main. If the Town determines that the water leak is beyond the water meter on your property, you will be advised to contact a licensed plumber at your expense to correct the problem. If no leak is discovered or a leak is discovered beyond the customer's water meter, the customer may be charged a leak check fee. If a water service line is repaired between the meter and the house, the account may be eligible for a leak adjustment.
