Frequently, the Town of Leesburg holds special public meetings, informational meetings or input sessions on a variety of topics, including proposed Capital Projects, updates to the Town Plan and revisions to Town policies, among others. As these meetings are scheduled, notices will be published below.

Zoning Ordinance Rewrite - Open Door Public Meeting

Meet the Project Team. Review Draft Text. Provide Feedback.

The community updated the Town Plan in 2022. Now we need your help rewriting the Zoning Ordinance!

Zoning implements the Town Plan by specifying where residential or commercial uses are allowed, how land and buildings are developed or preserved, and what type of landscaping, parking, and signage is required.

Input from residents and workers will inform revisions to the Zoning Ordinance and make it a better regulatory document. We are ready to share an overview of the first four chapters that cover General Provisions, Zoning Districts and Dimensional Standards, Use Regulations, and Development Standards. There will be three meetings:

Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, Lower Level
60 Ida Lee Dr NW, Leesburg, VA 20176

Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
Leesburg Town Hall, Lower Level
25 W Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176

Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
Leesburg Town Hall, Lower Level
25 W Market St, Leesburg VA 20176

The Open Door meetings are the first round of general public feedback. There will be other opportunities to review draft text as the process moves forward. Stay informed on the project website.

This meeting is an information sharing and gathering forum so that the Town can move forward with the rewrite of the Zoning Ordinance with community input.  Members of the Town Council may participate, but if they are present, they are present in the same manner as members of the public are – to listen, to learn, and to gather information.  This meeting is not the appropriate forum for them to answer questions from the public, to make decisions, or to otherwise engage in Town governmental business.
