Keep Leesburg Beautiful is a month-long opportunity throughout April each year for businesses, residents, and community groups to come together to make Leesburg a cleaner place for all. Since 2020, a Keep Leesburg Beautiful litter clean-up challenge has also been held in the fall to encourage residents to continue their community beautification and litter collection efforts throughout the year.

Youth groups, community organizations, churches, businesses, homeowners associations, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate.  Keep Leesburg Beautiful is a great opportunity for anyone who needs to complete community service hours or volunteer experience.

The two main volunteer opportunities for residents are:

  1. Litter Collection. Gather your friends, family, neighbors or co-workers and then select an area of Leesburg you would like to clean up or beautify. You can choose to work in your own neighborhood or choose a particular spot in town you think needs attention. Town staff can make suggestions for cleanup locations and help get permission from property owners (i.e., shopping centers) to work on their property. Join a planned event (listed below) or register online

  2. Storm Drain Marker Inventory & Assessments. With over 6,000 storm sewer inlets in the Town of Leesburg, it is extremely difficult for our Inspection Staff to visually check each inlet on a regular basis. Volunteers can keep us updated on the condition of inlets in their neighborhoods and around town. By just walking your neighborhood and noting if storm sewer inlets have storm drain markers and what condition they are in, you can provide the Town with valuable information about our storm sewer system. We will provide a map with inlet locations and a checklist. Once you have completed your inventory, just email or fax us the form. If you notice inlets in need of repair, missing storm drain markers, or blocked with vegetation or trash, our Street Division will be notified to make repairs. Register online
