Project Description: This project consisted of the installation of a new traffic signal on Battlefield Parkway at Plaza Street. The signal was needed due to recent traffic volume increases related to:

• opening of retail/commercial center in Exeter on Battlefield Parkway;
• opening of Tuscarora High School;
• completion of the Lowenbach Street Improvements project including the removal of barricades on Catoctin Circle; and
• opening of a new section of Battlefield Parkway between Edwards Ferry Road and Fort Evans Road

A study was done to determine if the location for the traffic signal should be at the intersection of Plaza Street or at the intersection of Catoctin Circle. Based on the results of the study, it was determined that the Battlefield Parkway intersection with Plaza Street was the most appropriate location for the signal.
