Police Station Expansion project information from Fiscal Year 2025 Budget (Project No. 20001)

Project Description: Expansion and renovation of the Leesburg Police Department Public Safety Facility located at 65 Plaza Street NE. Since the construction of the facility in 1997, the Town's population has more than doubled and the Town police force has grown.
This project will provide a 14,000 SF 1-story addition to the existing building, renovation of the existing building, HVAC improvements to the Support Building, the addition of EV charging stations, expansion of the secure parking area, and a second fiber connection will be added to the police station to eliminate the single point of failure on the network. Future expansions, including a potential 9,000 SF 2nd-story addition, will be needed as the Town and the police force continue to grow.

Project Updates: As of October 11, 2024 - Construction began in September 2023. The new addition is anticipated to open in late spring or early summer 2025. Final construction, including renovations to the existing building and site work, is expected to be in Spring 2026, followed by landscaping in Fall 2026. Construction has been phased in order to maintain operation of the police station during construction.
On October 2nd, 2024, the construction team celebrated its first major milestone with a Topping Out Party. This event signified the structural completion of the highest point of the new addition.
