Project Manager: Christine Roe 571-919-1646 / Jon Cleaves 703-737-7147
Project Description: The updates to the Ida Lee small playground are a part of the Miscellaneous Playground Surface and Equipment Replacements project, which includes resurfacing various playground surfaces around Town as well as replacing and adding equipment.
Project Updates: As of November 4, 2024 - The Town of Leesburg is planning improvements to the small playground located on Ida Lee Park property between the recreation center (60 Ida Lee Drive NW) and the outdoor pool. The existing playground equipment, installed over 20 years ago, has reached the end of its lifespan. The playground improvements are planned for children ages 5 and under and will feature fencing, shade structures, seating areas, low deck heights (up to three feet), and will have accessibility elements, including a rubber play surface. Replacement of the entrance trail from the sidewalk to the playground to ensure ADA compliance is also planned.
Town Staff would like your input on the new playground design. An online survey to gather feedback on the use of the playground and gauge interest in potential features is now available through November 18th. The survey can be found at with the following link or via the QR code posted at the playground and recreation center.
The Town will also be hosting three public input sessions at the playground on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Saturday, November 16th at 10:00 a.m.
Thereafter, Town staff will use the information gathered from the survey and the public input sessions to design the updates to the playground. The Parks and Recreation Commission will then review the designs at their February 19th public meeting.
