Project No. 20505

Construction Start Date: Ongoing

Estimated Completion Date: Ongoing FY20 Town-Wide Waterline Imp 20505

Project Manager: Mike Osman 703-737-7076

Project Description: This project undertakes on‐going replacement and upgrades to old deteriorated waterlines associated with waterline capacity improvements and other capital projects. The table provides a listing of the projects, design and/or construction costs and proposed scheduling.

Water Main Relocation at Exeter:

The Exeter Dam water main project will relocate the existing water line out of the downstream embankment slope of the dam where a new engineered turf system has been installed by the local HOA.  The replacement of the existing water main at this site, which is over thirty years old, will also have the benefit of resulting in reduced risk of failure as the structural integrity of the utility line will be improved. A 6-inch diameter water main connecting the proposed 16-inch water transmission main to the existing water distribution system on Cattail Lane NE will also be included. The new 6” water main will extend from the proposed, relocated 16” Exeter water transmission main to tie into the existing water main that ends in the Cattail Lane cul-de-sac. This new water main will facilitate looping of distributed water and enhance water quality.

Leesburg Route 15 Bypass Waterline:

The Leesburg Bypass Waterline project will provide a new, upsized (16”) water transmission main from an existing Lawson Road SE water main to an existing 24” water transmission line along the northwest side of the Leesburg Bypass (US 15). This project will include a bore beneath US 15. The project when completed will improve water distribution system reliability and sustainability as well as fire flow. Additionally, the design will include approximately 140 linear feet of proposed 8-inch water line across E. Market St., to connect or “loop” an existing line on Prosperity Ave. to an existing line on Leesburg Square Court.
