The Town of Leesburg offers two different types of collection for tree limbs, branches, yard waste and other organic materials for our curbside residential customers. Many times people ask which service is appropriate - it depends on the material! Please see the table below for information on the correct service. If you have additional questions regarding yard waste collection, please e-mail trash@leesburgva.gov or call us at 703-771-2790.  HOW TO PREPARE:

Tree limbs and branches should be stacked loose at the curb on Monday night. Do not tie, bind or bag. Keep separate from other materials such as trash and yard waste.

HOW TO PREPARE:

Yard waste must be bagged in brown paper yard waste cans or loose in a trash can with a Yard Waste Sticker. No plastic bags or contractor bags will be collected.  Small branches (under 4' long and 1/2" diameter) must be tied or placed in yard waste bags or cans. Smaller branches cannot be collected loose as brush.

 WHEN IT IS COLLECTED:

Brush collection begins on Monday. Routes vary weekly depending on volume and are subject to change. Brush must be at the curb Sunday night for same week pickup.

Collection begins Monday and continues through Friday, but may be extended/changed due to volume, special events/holidays or weather conditions.

Once the crew has finished a street they cannot return until the following week. Pickup is done automatically - no calls or special requests can be accepted for brush collection.

Brush is collected by the Town's Street Division year round.

 WHEN IT IS COLLECTED:

Yard waste is collected on Mondays during the months of April through November. Yard waste season began on April 1, 2024 on Mondays only Town-wide (all quadrants get collected on Mondays). The last day of yard waste pickup is November 25, 2024.

Yard waste must be set out by 6 a.m. the day of collection. Crews cannot return to pick up material set out late. Collections times can change weekly - i.e., some areas normally picked up in the afternoon could be changed to early AM collection - therefore it is very important to have yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m.

Yard waste collection for the 2023 season has concluded. Yard waste will not be collected during the months of December, January, February, or March.

If residents have yard waste during the winter months, it will be collected as trash on residents’ normal trash and recycling days. During this time, yard waste can be set out in trash containers, brown paper bags or plastic trash bags.

Do not mix with trash, recycling or bulk items - they are taken to different facilities by different vehicles. Mixed materials may be left behind.
